Book me
November / December 2010

It's been a while since I've managed to let you know what's been happening as it's been so incredibly busy which of course is a good thing but leaves little time for updating! Hopefully, the snow will start to thaw soon and things can get back to normal. Unfortunately, the 'Sheer Indulgence Evening' which was to take place on 2 Dec was postponed due to severe weather conditions, however it will take place early in the New Year. I have been booked solid with weddings in the Dundee, Fife and Glasgow, Edinburgh areas and as always, enjoy being part of what is one of the most important days of someone's life. I've already suppled hair and makeup at The Old Course, St Andrews, Kilconquar Castle, Fingask Castle, Fernie Castle, Guthrie Castle, Atholl Palace Hotel, Apex Hotel, Piperdam, MoorPark House Ayrshire, to name a few and am already steadily booking up for 2012 and look forward to future enquiries also. I must say that I am fortunate that I am fully mobile and travel all over the UK and globally if required for work, which means I'm not restricted to premises and keeps overheads low and makes each day fresh and different - however I do have a large south-facing room with a panoramic view over the River Tay and the Rail Bridge where I also do makeup tutorials and trials and on occasion photo shoots.

Faces of the Wellgate
I was hired to provide hair and makeup services for two 'Faces of the Wellgate' photo shoots, one which took place in August at the Wellgate Centre itself and most recently at the Hilton Hotel in November. Everyone involved was a pleasure to work with and am delighted that one of the winners, Ciara Howie, has also landed herself a major modelling contract fronting Matalan's 'Be Beau' range and is the winner of the 'Scottish Model Search' competition. Very well deserved!

Come Dine With Me
In August I was asked by Sonia Scott, 'All Talent' to provide hair and makeup for actors and models head shots in Glasgow. Everyone was a delight to work with and Pierre Guillemin was the photographer on the day. Pierre is a very experienced photographer with vast editorial experience and it was a wonderful opportunity for me. Sonia is also fantastic and, as well as being a former model and business owner, won the Glasgow 'Come Dine with Me' TV series. I was lucky enough to be invited to the After show Party at a private member's club in Glasgow and mingled with the contestants.

London Fasion Week
Once again I was very priviliged to be offered the opportunity from AOFM to assist at London Fashion Week in September, however I was unable to do so due to a family illness. Hopefully I will have the opportunity next year as there is nothing like the buzz of THE most famous fashion show in the UK.

September Shoots
In September I collaborated with Gillian Gamble who is a photographer based in St Andrews, who as well as being very talented, also does charity work in India. My idea was to recreate my version of the Biba/Sarah Moon images that I personally love and I was very pleased with how this turned out. In fact I was so pleased that I've used one of the images on my exhibition banner. We worked with the beautiful Libby Forbes who's family own Forbes of Kingennie in Monifieth. They kindly lent me one of the lodges for a shoot earlier this year and is an ideal venue for a wedding or stay.

Also in September, I had a very creative day with Stuart McAllister a Glasgow-based photographer who as well as being immensely talented, is an all-round nice guy. When I suggested a black model, Stuart suggested Numba Siluka, an agency represented and published model, who we were very lucky to have as she is frequently in demand. Stuart has a great portfolio and site and to see more of his fantastic images click here. I love the photos we produced and had a wonderful day with both Stuart and Numba.

November Shoots
November was a promotional shoot for Amanda Price (Scottish Antiques and Arts Centre) Abernyte who has amazing vintage clothes, jewellery and accessories for all occasions and also Rara Pretty Vacant, Exchange Street, Dundee who have fantastic and interesting clothes, accessories and items-both companies are always a pleasure to work with and provided exactly what was required. The photographer was Graeme Ogston, for which this was his first time photographing a fashion shoot - I'm sure you'll agree he did a splendid job. For the indoor shots, Ross Fraser McLean (who I've also worked with on a few occasions), generously offered the use of his home studio which we made full use of. Ross also lent us his fur hat for one of the images and it's one of my favourite shots. Stacey Sturrock (my step-neice), modelled for the day and the theme was 70's Jerry Hall-esque. Stacey was a trooper particularly outdoors with summer clothing in chilly weather. Stacey has previous experience as a model having won a major Scottish modelling competition 10 years ago and went onto win a contract with 'Storm' Kate Moss's agency and Pretty Polly. I last did her hair and makeup for a picture which was featured in 'Hair Now' magazine.

Also in November I was booked to provide hair and make up for actors who will feature in a Scottish Office initiative which will be launched in January '11. The shoot took place in Edinburgh and was great to work with a team which consisted of professionals from both England and Scotland. It was lovely also to receive a thank you message from one of the actors who loved her look!

FS 2011 St Andrews Charity Fasion Show
November continued to be busy for promotional shoots and I was contacted by Kayhan Photography to be Hair and Makeup Artist for St Andrews University students. FS 11 is the largest student-run charity fashion show in the UK and in the past 18 years has raised over £190,000 for charities. Giorgio Armani, Prada, Vivienne Westwood and Miu Miu have lent designs for past shows. Trekstock who support young people with cancer will benefit this year. I was delighted to work with such a professional and enthusiastic group of people and enjoyed both the photo and video shoots with a 3rd shoot taking placing this month. Kayhan is a always a pleasure to work with and a wonderful photographer.

Bridal Fairs
I have been very lucky to have been asked to contribute at a number of Bridal Fairs but rarely have free space to participate in many. However I shall be exhibiting and taking part in Dundee Apex Hotel's Wedding Fair on January 23rd 2011. I look forward to meeting with Brides to be who have contacted me through my site to say that they will also be there and will answer any questions about bridal hair and makeup for your day.

Makeup Tutorials
I am frequently in demand for makeup tutorials and can teach you about the best products, how to use them and where to buy them and you will also receive a makeover. If there is a booking for 2 or more I can offer a discount, contact me to discuss!

Wishing all my past and future clients and colleagues a very merry Christmas and a profitable New Year!
